Our own champagne - Les Pionniers NV Champagne - has been named the joint best in the country via experts at Which? Magazine.

The £17.99 bubbly was said to be on par with Mumm Cordon Rouge following a blind taste test, but was also said to be better than Moët - and half the price!

Our champagne scored 78% in the tests, replacing last year’s winner from Waitrose at the top of the table.

The wine experts described it as 'elegant and well-balanced', praising its flavour as intense and reminiscent of honeycomb and nectarines.

The Les Pionniers champagne is made for Co-op by Piper Heidseick – which normally sells for £30 upwards in UK supermarkets.
